WHS class of 1941
WHS class of 1941 will meet at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at TJ's Log Cabin.
Fall festival planned
A fall festival will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 13 and beginning at 8 a.m. Nov. 14 at the Pillager Community Center. There will be a craft, bake and garage sale.
Sons of Norway
ISLE - Sons of Norway-Tusenvann Lodge No. 1-659 will meet at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at the I.R.E.C. in Isle. Darlene Lindholm will make kransekake (Norwegian wedding Cake). Lakes and Woods Garden Club
AITKIN - The Lakes and Woods Garden Club of Aitkin will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the Mille Lacs Electric Cooperative meeting room, east on Highway 210 in Aitkin from the intersection of Highways 169 and 210. They will be making birch bark centerpieces. Speakers are Roger and Judy Aker and Lucy and Roger Stippel. The Akers will provide the birch bark logs for the centerpieces, but everyone has to provide their own decorations, (small Christmas statues, bells, holly, flowers, candles, greens). Glue guns are also needed. There should be extras available for those who don't have them.
Refreshments will be by Aggie Lacore and Marge Spiel.
Volunteer training days available
There will be volunteer training days from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 11 at Good Samaritan Society-Woodland or 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 14 at Good Samaritan Society, Pine River. For additional questions or to register, call Kris Kayser at 851-1137.
Backus Legion whitetail weekend
BACKUS - The Backus American Legion will hold its annual whitetail weekend in conjunction with the opening of the firearms deer season Friday and Saturday.
Activities begin Friday with a noon opening of the clubrooms and a bake sale from 3 p.m. until gone. A meat raffle begins at 5:30 p.m. and chili and barbecue sandwiches will be served from 4 to 9 p.m.
Saturday features the annual hunters' dinner from 4-8 p.m. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 3-10. Free cash and customer drawings will be held at 9 p.m.
PEO CJ
Chapter CJ of PEO will meet at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Hostesses are Cathy Gray and Jenny Holden. The program is by the MN Home Fund Committee.

Good Samaritan Society-Bethany
Good Samaritan Society - Bethany, 804 Wright Street, Brainerd, will have its monthly gift shop meeting at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the Community Room. The Auxiliary will meet directly after for its annual meeting at 10 a.m. A Bethany volunteer Giving Thanks open house will also be in the Community Room from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Brainerd American Legion activities
The Brainerd American Legion upcoming activities include the Post executive board meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday and the Auxiliary meeting will be 7 p.m. Commander Chris Spieker will host an all-you-can-eat bologna feed from noon until gone Wednesday. Cost: $7.
Brainerd Area Dental Assistants Society
Brainerd Area Dental Assistants Society will meet 7 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Brainerd Public Library, 416 South Fifth St., Brainerd. Topic: Infection control update and influenza symptoms. Potlatch Retirees will meet for lunch and cards at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Lakes Area Senior Activity Center in Brainerd.
Moose Lodge bologna feed
The Moose Lodge all-you-can-eat bologna feed will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday. Cost is $6.
Friday night dinner
The VFW Friday night dinner will be hunter's stew serving from 5:30 p.m. until gone. Cost is $7.
Brainerd Lakes Area Chapter of Healthy Brains for Children
The next meeting of the Brainerd Lakes Area Chapter of Healthy Brains for Children will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Park United Methodist Church, Sixth and Juniper in Brainerd. This organization is learning about Fetal Alcohol disease and how to respond to the epidemic effects it has on our society.
Brainerd Auxiliary of the Shrine Hospital for Children
The Brainerd Auxiliary of the Shrine Hospital for Children will meet at noon Monday at the Masonic Hall in Brainerd for lunch. Hostesses are Carol Crust, Dorace Goodwin and Lois Seaman.
Senior dances
Senior dances will be 2-5 p.m. Wednesday at the Brainerd Eagles with music by Frank and Fran and from 1-4 p.m. Friday at the Deerwood Legion with music by Country Pride.
Holiday craft and bake sale
BACKUS - The Backus Lions will have its annual holiday craft and bake sale from 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 7 at the Backus City Hall in downtown Backus, just west of Highway 371.
Mission Possible Senior Club
The Mission Possible Senior Club will meet at noon Wednesday at the Mission Town Hall. A potluck will be followed by speaker Rick Pederson, Crow Wing Power, on energy saving.
WHS class of 1955
The WHS class of 1955, spouses and friends will meet for lunch at 11 a.m. Monday at the Northwind Grille.
