An 11-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle Monday as he and a friend were on bicycles and crossing Jackson Street near the Brainerd Civic Center.
The boy, who was not identified Monday, suffered facial injuries and possibly a head injury but it was unknown at the time whether those injuries were life-threatening, according to Brainerd Police Chief John Bolduc.
The boy was transported via ambulance to St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.

Bolduc said it appeared the boy and his friend were attempting to cross Jackson Street on their bikes when the boy was struck by a truck that had turned off from Northwest Fourth Street onto Jackson Street. The truck was traveling at a low speed at the time of the crash.
Bolduc said the boy was alert and conscious following the accident.
The accident occurred at 4:34 p.m. Monday.
