Betty J. Sundberg
BAXTER - Betty J. Sundberg, age 83, resident of Baxter, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at St. Joseph's Medical Center. Betty was born in Great Falls, Mont., on Dec. 28, 1925, to Emery and Ruby (Holmberg) Sedlock. Her family moved to Brainerd in May 1929.
She was a 1943 graduate of Brainerd's Washington High School. Betty attended Minneapolis School of Art and the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth. She married Eugene Sundberg in Brainerd on Feb. 2, 1946. Her memberships included First Lutheran Church, Chapter CJ, PEO Sisterhood, Order of Eastern Star, Northland Arboretum and the Crow Wing County Historical Museum.
Survivors include daughters, Sandra (Errol) Thomason, of Hemet, Calif., Carol Nelson, of Baxter, Minn., Judy (Barry) Carmick, of Germantown, Md.; three grandsons, Anthony (Trudy) Nelson; and great-grandchildren, Collin and Alyssa, Daniel Thomason and Trevor Carmick; two granddaughters, Christa (Casey) Miller and great-granddaughter, Madelyn, and Kelly (Brian) Corbett; one brother, Robert (Joni) Sedlock, of Park Rapids, Minn.; niece Pauline (Robert) Bury; and great-niece, Brittany Bury.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dr. Gene Sundberg; and daughter, April.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Pastor Andy Smith officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd and the hour before services Thursday at the church. Burial will be 1 p.m. Friday at Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church.
Arrangements are with the Nelson-Doran Funeral Home, Brainerd.
