Howard C. Gilbertson
LAKE SHORE - Howard C. "Howie" Gilbertson, age 76, of Lake Shore, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at St. Joseph's Medical Center. Prior to moving to the Brainerd lakes area, while living in Bloomington, he was the assistant chief of the Bloomington Rescue Squad. He loved to fish and hunt, moving to the Brainerd area as it was his dream to be up north and living on a lake. He found employment at Clow Stamping for over 17 years. His co-workers there as well as the people of the Lake Shore community became his good friends.
Survivors include his first wife, Delores Gilbertson Howard; children, Linda (Gregory) Stetler, Vicky (Harold) Bahner, Sherry (James) Allmon; grandchildren, Kristin, Heather, Tony, Aaron, Ande, Tim, Troy, Karissa, William, Katelin, Jacob, Michael and Katie; great-grandchildren, Audrey, Tanner, Andy, Aaron, Jayse and Aiden; longtime family friend and "fourth daughter," Carla Hanson, and his beloved, Shanz; one sister, Lillian Greaves; and nephew, Tim Greaves.
He is preceded in death by his son, Michael; and wife, JoAnn "Jackie" Brekken Gilbertson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Nisswa with Father George Zeck officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church 6-8 p.m. Thursday with parish prayers at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue the hour before services Friday at the church.
Arrangements are with the Nelson-Doran Funeral Home, Brainerd.
