Arson is suspected in three fires at unoccupied dwellings early Wednesday south of Garrison in Mille Lacs County.
Deputy State Fire Marshal Mark Germain said the first fire was reported at 2:18 a.m. at a mobile home on Virgo Road. The second fire was reported at 2:20 a.m. at a cabin on High Drive and the third fire was reported at 2:53 a.m. at a single-family house under construction on Woodland Road.
Germain, who is investigating the fires with the Mille Lacs Tribal Police Department and Mille Lacs County Sheriff's Department, said it is believed all three fires are connected.
"They all happened within two, two and-a-half miles of each other," Germain said. "We believe it's arson."
No arrests have been made and the case is still being investigated, Germain said.
Onamia Ambulance assisted the fire department but no one was in any of the dwellings at the time of the fires and no injuries were reported.
