La Von 'Pete' Ranum
IRONTON - La Von "Pete" Ranum, age 83, of Ironton, passed away Nov. 3, 2009, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Minneapolis. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at Crosslake Lutheran Church, Crosslake, Minn. Family and friends are invited to gather beginning at noon at the church. Interment will be in the Crosslake Lutheran Church Columbarium.
La Von "Pete" Ranum was born on May 8, 1926, in Albert Lea, Minn., the son of Maurice and Fern (Gruby) Ranum. Following his schooling he entered the United States Air Force. On April 5, 1953, he was united in marriage to Eleanor Huset, to this union two children, Barbara and Frank, were born. The family moved to the Brainerd lakes area in the early 1970s. He was a member of the Richfield American Legion Post and Crosslake Lutheran Church. Pete dedicated his life to serving his community.
Pete will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Eleanor; children, Barbara (Robert Sr.) DePaoli, of Nisswa, and Frank (Kathy) Ranum, of Brainerd; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Thomas (Barb) Ranum, of Bloomington, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Fern; and a brother, Daryl.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake.
