Quarterback Mike Musty was named Brainerd's most valuable football player and was one of the six Warriors named to the All-Central Lakes Conference team.

Rick Hansen, whose 1,114 rushing yards led the Central Lakes Conference this fall, and guard Tom Hanson, voted most improved player, will co-captain the Brainerd Warriors in 1978.
40 years ago (1967)
The official Minnesota Christmas tree on the state Capitol lawn in St. Paul this season will be a 62-foot blue spruce from Aitkin County.
60 years ago (1947)
The city of Brainerd and area estimate to cover a 30-mile radius was blanketed today under a 6-inch average snowfall which was partially blocking highway and telephone lines.
80 years ago (1927)
The Brainerd Lions Club promised the fairer sex a real duck feed but when the banquet came it was found that turkey had been substituted for the duck as the elusive duck was still hiding in the rice beds of Crow Wing County.
100 years ago (1907)
Will Turcotte and Carl Bopple are fitting up a rink on Boom Lake. The boys will keep the ice well flooded and cleaned and have erected a comfortable skate house 12 by 24 feet with floor and stove.
