Faith in Action for Cass County is one of six nonprofit organizations that recently completed the Initiative Foundation's Healthy Organizations Partnership program.
The two-year program is designed to help nonprofit organizations become more effective by providing strategic planning assistance, leadership training and implementation grants. Faith in Action for Cass County, which began the HOP training in September 2006, has created a new strategic plan to serve residents of Cass County and was awarded a $5,500 grant. The organization will now receive priority funding consideration from the Initiative Foundation.
"This partnership with the Initiative Foundation has helped our organization to determine a clear mission, develop and implement a strategic plan and action plan for carrying out that mission and evaluate the effectiveness of our work," said Theresa Eclov, Executive Director of Faith in Action.
Located in Hackensack, Faith in Action for Cass County has been in existence since 2001. Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, Faith in Action is a community-based, nonprofit 501(c)3 organization providing non-medical assistance to older adults, adults with disabilities, and other individuals experiencing difficult circumstances. No fee is charged for services but donations are accepted. While income does not determine eligibility, Faith in Action's goal is to assist those who lack other resources. Our mission statement is "Compassionate Volunteers Serving People in Need" and our strategic plan and annual report are available upon request.
"The Healthy Organization Partnership program has been a great learning experience for our Board of Directors and staff. We are grateful for the guidance of the Initiative Foundation in helping Faith in Action become a more effective, healthy organization," said Eclov. "As money gets tighter and need is greater, we know we are using our resources, including the donations and our volunteers' time and talents, as wisely as possible to serve the needs of the residents of Cass County."
