Brainerd High School debaters won their third victory in a row Saturday. The win was in Anoka. A total of 26 teams competed in the varsity division at Anoka.
30 years ago (1977)
Scott Jensen will play taps as the American Legion prepares to fire a round in an observance of Veterans Day held at the corner of Sixth and Front Streets.
40 years ago (1967)
Six students under the instruction of Rudy Hillig finished the federal building landscaping for winter. The students are taking the nursery and landscaping technology course at the Brainerd Vocational and Technical School. All landscaping surrounding the federal building was designed and accomplished by the class.
60 years ago (1947)
Dick Cook, Nisswa, who will headline the year's first local card to be held in the Brainerd Armory tonight, works out in anticipation of his bout with Al Andrews, Duluth glover.
80 years ago (1927)
The Whittier School celebrated Armistice Day this morning by going over the top in the Junior Red Cross Drive. Every pupil in the whole school contributed something and they had the grand sum of $25.
100 years ago (1907)
The indication seems to be that everybody is going hunting. At least everybody of the male persuasion. Up to this forenoon 265 licenses were issued. The number of licenses were greatly in excess of number any previous year.
