Joseph retires after 31 years
BAXTER - Pat Joseph is retiring from the Mills Family of Companies after more than 31 years of service.
Her co-workers gathered for a retirement celebration on Nov. 4. Joseph initially worked for the Mills Fleet Farm corporate offices. In 1996, she moved into the new Mills Ford dealership in Baxter.
CTC supports Network 5
Consolidated Telecommunications Co. recently showed support of Network 5 by agreeing to sponsor the group for the upcoming year.
Along with the sponsorship a monetary donation was included. Network 5 is a group of economic development professionals that meet bi-monthly in various locations throughout our five-county region. Participants in the group include employees from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, WorkForce Center, Regional Development Commission's, USDA Rural Development, Initiative Foundation, legislative aides, area colleges, small business development centers, major area corporations and foundations as well as city and county economic development professionals.
The group shares information, opportunities and ideas. This networking group is the only group of its kind operating in the state at this time, Region Five reported. Cheryal Hills, Region Five executive director, said the networking group appreciated the funding to sustain the group.
Stumvoll travels to Peru to provide chiropractic healthcare
NISSWA - Aron Stumvoll, doctor of chiropractic, Nisswa, a 2000 graduate of Brainerd High School, is traveling to Lima, Peru, to take chiropractic care to residents.
Stumvoll will be in Peru for six to 18 months working at Centro Quiropractico Schubel.

Shopping/Business Expo is planned Saturday
STAPLES - The Staples Motely Area Chamber of Commerce is presenting the Shopping/Business Expo 2009 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in conjunction with the Community Center Craft Fair in Staples.
Marina ll - Breezy Point Resort hosts CHOW
BREEZY POINT - The Marina II Dining Room and Lounge in Breezy Point Resort hosts the Brainerd Lakes Chamber's networking event CHOW from noon to 1 p.m. Dec. 2.
The Marina II will be providing chamber members with a delicious lunch, information about their business and door prizes.
The cost to attend this event is $5 with advance reservations and $7 at the door. Payment can be made at the event by cash, check or credit card. Schlenner Wenner & Co. to host Chamber's Friday Morning Coffee
LITTLE FALLS - The Little Falls Area Chamber of Commerce's networking event Friday Morning Coffee is available for chamber members, employees and guests.
The event is planned from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Friday at the chamber, 200 First St. Northwest.
Announcements and introductions will be at 8:15 a.m. Sponsoring this month is Schlenner Wenner & Co.
Little Falls Chamber sponsors Business After Hours
LITTLE FALLS - The Little Falls Area Chamber of Commerce's networking event Business After Hours is planned 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at event host RadioShack, 1614 First Ave. Northeast.
Hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be served.

LASHO presents seminar Thursday
The Lakes Area Safety and Health Organization is presenting a seminar on soft tissue injuries and acupuncture therapy Thursday at the Central Lakes College, Business and Industry Center in Brainerd.
Continental breakfast and registration starts at 9:30 a.m. with the program from 10-11:30 a.m. The seminar is free to LASHO paid members and $10 per person for non-members.
AWARD
Assistive Technology Resource earns award
LITTLE FALLS - Little Falls-based technology training and professional development resource provider Atomic Learning recently received recognition for its Assistive Technology Collection of short how-to videos.
Tech & Learning magazine, through a panel of 30 educators, selected the collection as one of 65 products to earn the prestigious 27-year-old award.
Atomic Learning's product is among those honored for innovation and out-of-the-box thinking. The collection's short, show-and-tell video tutorials empower educators to use and apply assistive technology such as dedicated software, accessibility features in mainstream software, and hardware devices.
Detailed descriptions and comments by the judges will be featured in the December 2009 Awards issue of Tech & Learning magazine.
