The Minnesota National Guard will be assisting the Mille Lacs County sheriff in a search and recovery operation on Lake Mille Lacs to help search for a person who was reported missing on Oct. 29, and is presumed to have drowned, it was learned Friday.
The sheriff's office found a boat a day later on the north shore of Lake Mille Lacs.
The National Guard was ordered to assist in the missing person operation after Gov. Tim Pawlenty Friday signed an Emergency Executive Order directing it to do so.
The sheriff's office requested National Guard resources to continue its efforts to locate the missing person because it does not have adequate local resources for providing search and recovery operations.
