Lyle A. Vogt
GARRISON - Lyle Arnold Vogt, age 65, passed away on Nov. 13, 2009, surrounded by family and friends at his home in Garrison, Minn., after a two-year courageous battle with lymphoma.
Preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lillian Vogt, of Minneapolis. Survived by children, Christine (Erik) Tammearu and Mitchell (Holli) Vogt; sisters, Joyce (Willard) Laabs, Nancy (Bob) Fiebelkorn and Cindy Prindle (Wes Kroening); grandchildren, Austen Vogt-Martinez, Lillian Tammearu and Anna Tammearu; lifetime friend, Tim Hultmann; and special nephew, Jason Kerr.
Born May 9, 1944, in Minneapolis. Graduated from St. Louis Park High School in 1962. Attended Moorhead State University from 1962-1966 majoring in physical education and coaching. Co-captain of Moorhead State football team 1965. Pursued potential NFL career with Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboy training camps with letter of interest from Minnesota Vikings. Career in HVAC started at Fred Vogt and Company Heating and Air Conditioning. Moved to Golden, Colo., in 1981, and pursued a successful career in sales for Carrier products from 1981-1991. Started his own business in 1991 specializing in home remodeling and wood craftsmanship and refinishing. Returned to Minnesota in 1998. His lifetime love of family, fishing, hunting and especially his fishing lodge in Canada, made his life complete.
An open house will be held Thursday, Nov. 19, from 4-8 p.m. at Woody's Grill, 6399 City West Parkway, Eden Prairie, MN 55344. A local open house will be 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at The Blue Goose in Garrison.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge at the University of Minnesota and Heartland Home Health Care and Hospice in Brainerd, Minn.
