The Brainerd Warrior boys' basketball team dashed to a 16-2 first quarter edge and rolled to a 64-43 season-opening win over Detroit Lakes Tuesday night. Brainerd junior Todd Vanek led all scorers with 22 points.

30 years ago (1978)

Two Brainerd gymnasts qualified for the state meet at last night's Section 3 tournament. Mike Millam qualified for the state in both all-around and on the pommel horse while Tim Frazer qualified in vault and door exercises.

40 years ago (1968)

Thanksgiving dinner at Akre's Dutch Mill.

Roast young Tom turkey and dressing, potato and more or baked ham, either $2.50.

60 years ago (1948)

This evening at 8 o'clock the Brainerd Aerie No. 287 Fraternal Order of Eagles will observe the 46th Anniversary of the founding of their lodge in Brainerd.

80 years ago (1928)

Brainerd's new airport on the Rosko Field has opened a new avenue to commence in this city with the arrival of the first salesman to fly to Brainerd to call on customers.

100 years ago (1908)

One of the busy places in Brainerd at present is the blacksmith shop of Fred Drexler. Mr. Drexler has a force of six blacksmiths at work making oil spears.
