Minnesota ag commissioner among speakers at Dec. 2 forum in Staples
STAPLES - Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner Gene Hugoson is among the speakers scheduled to address the 22nd annual Farm Forum on the Staples campus of Central Lakes College.
"Managing in Times of Economic Challenge - Current Issues in Agriculture" is the title of the forum, which will be conducted from 10 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Dec. 2 in the assembly room at the Staples campus of Central Lakes College.
Topics included in the session include year-end tax planning hints, the global agriculture outlook, grain handling, drying and storing, risk management resources and opportunities in renewable energy.
Hugoson is a south-central Minnesota farmer from the East Chain area. He was first appointed commissioner in July of 1995 by Gov. Arne Carlson and was re-appointed by Gov. Jesse Ventura and Gov. Tim Pawlenty. He served five terms in the Minnesota House before his appointment.
