Author to sign books in Crosstown Square
CROSSLAKE - Dale Mulfinger, author and architect, will participate in a book signing from 1-3 p.m. Friday at The Hearth Room in Crosslake Town Square.

Mulfinger is author of The Cabin, The Getaway Home and the newly released Cabinology.

C-I joins SEE program

The Crosby-Ironton School District was one of nine schools to have joined the ranks of energy conscious schools participating in the Schools for Energy Efficiency program this school year.

School districts that make the list use a team approach to change behavior helping their schools save energy, make a positive impact on the environment and save money showing responsible use of taxpayer dollars.

Since the start of the program in 2003, SEE schools have avoided spending more than $13 million on utility bills and reduced energy use by 12 percent on average, with some reaching more than 20 percent. Annual savings per school range from $7,500 to $25,000 and the return on investment per dollar spent on the SEE program ranges from an average of $1.28 in year one to $7.92 by year four.

Fun swim scheduled at the YMCA

The Brainerd Family YMCA has extra fun swim time scheduled for Thanksgiving school break. Members swim for free and community members can purchase a day pass. Family passes available for only $10.

The schedule is as follows: 12:30-8 p.m. Friday; 12:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday; 12:30-3:30 p.m. Sunday; and 12:30-3:15 p.m. and 6:30-8 p.m. Monday.
