Initiative Foundation awards grants
The Initiative Foundation announced that it has awarded nine community grants totaling $30,000.
The following area organizations were selected as grant recipients:
- Central Minnesota Community Foundation, St. Cloud; Social Capital in the Brainerd Lakes Area, $3,000, to assist in conducting a survey of social capital, the network between and within social groups considered a key asset in community development.
- Todd County, Long Prairie; second annual "Supporting Local Entrepreneurship" in Todd County, $1,500, to sponsor a seminar for entrepreneurs and small business owners interested in starting or energizing their business ideas.
- University of Wisconsin-Superior; Northwoods Nonprofits, Brainerd area workshops, $1,500, to support nonprofit management workshops for organizations in the Brainerd lakes area.
The Initiative Foundation seeks projects that strengthen central Minnesota communities and address barriers to economic development.
