Scouting leadership dinner set for Thursday
The first Lakes Area Friends of Scouting Leadership dinner is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Quarterdeck Resort and Restaurant on Gull, 9820 Birch Bay Drive S.W. in Nisswa.

Hors d'oeuvres are scheduled at 5:30 p.m. followed by the program at 6:30 p.m. featuring Dan Werthman, an Eagle Scout, attorney, Air Force judge and now a pastor at Lakewood Evangelical Free Church.

Individual tickets are $50 and a table sponsorship for four to 10 seats is $45 per seat. Spots can be reserved by e-mailing Lee Seipp at lee@quarterdeckresort.com or by calling (218) 963-2482.

MnDOT office designated Toys for Kids drop off site

BAXTER - The Minnesota Department of Transportation district office in Baxter has been designated a drop-off location for the annual Toys for Kids toy drive.

The drop-off box will be in the front lobby area of the building, which is located at 7694 Industrial Park Road in Baxter. New, unwrapped toys may be dropped off at the site between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, until Dec. 12.

After the toys are collected, local Marine Corps representatives will distribute the donated toys and money to families in the Brainerd Lakes Area.
