Brainerd's snowfall season gets off to slow start in November
Snowfall in November was 2 inches in Brainerd compared to a 10-year average of 6.65 inches, the Brainerd Area Forestry office of the DNR reported. The 2 inches of snow compared to an average of 7.25 inches at this point in the season.
Precipitation in November was 1.05 inches compared to an average of 1.16 inches. Year-to-date precipitation was 28.18 inches compared to an average of 28.74 inches.
High temperature in November was 70 degrees on Nov. 3. The low temperature was 8 degrees on Nov. 21.
Cello quartet to perform
A cello quartet will perform at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Holiday Village at the Westgate Mall. Performances are free.
Klobuchar brings jobs tour to area cities
Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., will visit Silent Power Inc. in Baxter at 1 p.m. Thursday as part of her 17-county Main Street Jobs Tour.
Visits are also scheduled for Pine River and Little Falls.
Klobuchar will conduct a meeting and a tour at Silent Power Inc., a firm that manufactures products for the renewable energy and backup power markets. The business is at 13256 Dogwood Drive.
On Wednesday, Klobuchar will visit the Rural Renewable Energy Alliance at Hunt Utilities Group Campus in Pine River at 2:40 p.m. The senator will meet with Minnesota National Guard officials at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Camp Ripley. While at the camp she will tour the Minnesota Military Museum.
Deerwood Post Office hosts open house
DEERWOOD - The Deerwood Post Office will host an open house from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 9 at the post office, 23809 Forest Road, Deerwood.
Postmaster Jeff Swanson said the holiday open house will include cookies and coffee.
