20 years ago (1988)

Eleven-year-old Tony Whitlock is Brainerd's hottest prep bowler. Tony has put up numbers of which some adult bowlers would be envious. Nearing the end of the first half of the season Tony holds a 142 average with a high game of 174 and a high series of 476.

30 years ago (1978)

Shayne Johnson scored 28 points and Mark Selisker 23 as Crosby-Ironton whipped Aitkin 72-49 in Mid-State Conference basketball action.

40 years ago (1968)

A five dollar membership fee has been established by the Dugout Ski Club which plans special excursions. A special bus will leave the Dugout each Saturday at 8 a.m. and return late in the afternoon for an after-ski party.

60 years ago (1948)

Capt. Kenneth Matheson, piloting a B-25 army bomber, landed at the Brainerd-Crow Wing County Airport. Capt. Matheson is a graduate of the Crosby-Ironton High School. He and his crew members spent the night with his parents.

80 years ago (1928)

Four reindeer who survived a shipwreck in the North Pacific were in Brainerd today along with their tour managers, two honest to goodness Eskimos. They are on their way to Milaca where they are scheduled to present a show.

100 years ago (1908)

Tuesday evening we will give a grand skate masque. No one allowed on the floor without a masque until 9:30. Orchestra, good skates and good time. Admission to gallery will be 10¢. Casino Roller Rink.
