Board agrees to close open enrollment
Staff Writer Open enrollment in the Brainerd School District will close for the remainder of this school year and next school year, unless a family already has a child in the school district.
In that case younger siblings will be grandfathered into the district.
The Brainerd School Board Monday agreed to close open enrollment to help balance class size and enrollment at each of the elementary schools.
This vote came after the board approved $5.5 million in budget cuts.
Next fall the school board can re-evaluate its open enrollment and decide whether it can hold more students or not.
