LOCAL BRIEFS Lakes Area Senior Activity Center completes training
The Lakes Area Senior Activity Center is one of eight nonprofit organizations that recently completed the Initiative Foundation's Healthy Organizations Partnership program.
The two-year program is designed to help nonprofit organizations become more effective by providing strategic planning assistance, leadership training and implementation grants.
The senior center, which began the training in September 2004, created a new strategic plan to serve members in the community and was awarded a $5,500 grant. The organization will now receive priority funding consideration from the Initiative Foundation.
The skills the board learned by going through this process will effect the center's planning process for years to come. The community benefits by the commitment of the board to seniors of the lakes area.
