The Brainerd Family YMCA has extended its deadline for its intramural sports leagues to Jan. 14 and registration is under way.
League play will begin Jan. 19. The league is open to high school boys and girls in grades 9-12.
Basketball, dodgeball and volleyball will be offered. All games will be officiated.
Leagues will run for eight weeks after school on Mondays and Tuesdays. Cost is $40 per participant.
Registration forms are available on the YMCA Web site or may be picked up at the Brainerd High School activities office or at the BHS South Campus main office.
Drop-in opportunities for each sport will be available on Mondays and Tuesdays the next few weeks. Drop-in play is free to high school students. Call the YMCA (829-4767) for specific times.

Area boxers compete
Four boxers from the Brainerd Boxing Club battled it out in Clearwater Saturday.
Billy Herron lost a decision to James Weaver of St. Cloud. Kolt Herron lost a decision to Charlie Oothoudt of Leech Lake. Tom Fanjoy lost a decision to Jason Schaller of St. Paul Rice Street Gym. Blake Herron lost to Maurice Fuller of White Bear Lake.
The Brainerd Boxing Club will be hosting its first boxing card 7 p.m. Saturday at the Brainerd National Guard Armory.
