The Morrison County Sheriff Office was called at 3:17 a.m. Friday to a report of a fire at the Darling Church. When deputies arrived the building was fully engulfed in flames. The Randall Fire Department responded and was able to keep the fire from spreading into the wood line; however the church was a total loss. BrainerdDispatch.com Illustration

Baxter man gets 6 years in prison for arson

On Sept. 2 in Crow Wing County District Court, a 28-year-old Baxter man - Clinton York Janowiak - pleaded guilty to first-degree arson of a garage fire on July 3. Judge Earl Maus sentenced Janowiak the same day to an executed sentence of six years in prison and he was ordered to pay restitution and a $135 fine. Janowiak will serve his time in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud and was given credit for 59 days he already served.
