Brainerd firefighters and Crow Wing County Sheriff’s deputies help a snowmobiler out of a rescue inflatable boat Friday near the Birchdale Road public access on North Long Lake. Law enforcement searched an area west of the access after receiving a report of multiple people in the water. The rescued man was transported by North Memorial Ambulance. A Chevy Cavalier broke through the ice near an ice heave not far from the Birchdale access on North Long Lake, north of Brainerd. The vehicle was discovered by a cross-country skier, who believed the vehicle had just gone through the ice Wednesday.
