Checking a group of snowmobile riders, one of them blew past the group, which was stopped in front of CO Joyce Kuske (Little Falls). The rider left the groomed trail, jumped the snowbank, did a loop into the farm field, jumped the snowbank again, and did another loop into another field before coming back to where the rest of his group was stopped. The snowmobiler learned his joy ride of leaving the groomed trail and trespassing was an expensive trip. BrainerdDispatch.com Illustration

NR Pilot Brad Maas (Brainerd) worked on deer surveys in Deer Permit Area 241. We use two helicopters in this area, which is very large and includes more than 250 plots to check. Conditions were very good and low temperatures helped with visibility by keeping snow in the fields. It’s been at least three winters since there was adequate snow to survey this permit area. Many deer were observed, including some still carrying antlers.
