Hello! My name is Alicia Wicklund and I am a new employee to The Brainerd Dispatch in the page layout department. My boyfriend and I recently moved to the Brainerd Lakes Area to get closer to family. We also love everything the area has to offer.
I am originally from Badger, Minn., a small town in the northwestern part of the state of about 400 people. Growing up, I showed quarter horses and beef cattle with my two sisters, and loved to garden and be in the kitchen with my mother. A lot of time was spent at my parent’s hardware store, too.
After graduating high school in 2007, I attended North Dakota State University—Go Bison! And majored in Journalism and double minored in business administration and public relations and advertising.
Prior to the Dispatch, I was the editor of the Kanabec County Times in Mora, Minn., and also lived in Bottineau, N.D. For a short while working at a bank and writing for the local newspaper.
I enjoy a number of hobbies: running, cooking, Pinteresting, horseback riding, writing, photography, quilting, fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends; needless to say, I like to stay busy.
I credit getting into the newspaper industry to Rollin Bergman, publisher of The Tribune, who allowed me to work for three summers while in college as a student intern reporter.
I look forward to living and working in the Brainerd Lakes Area and being involved in the community!
