I have no deep theological exhortation today; this column will be very personal as my faith is being sorely tested and God is proving to me that He indeed is who He claims to be. Recently I have had to move my husband - my rock, my lover, my companion, my provider and my best friend - to an assisted living home due to advancing dementia. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do and we are still reeling under the ongoing aftershocks of this great life-changing tsunami. But I have finally, after 53 years of wedded bliss, figured out what marriage is all about.
There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world: for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.” Luke 21:25-26 NASB We hear a lot these days about blood moons, planets in odd orbits, meteors and stars. Many people are looking to the heavens to predict the future. In the above passage Jesus directs our eyes to the heavens as he gives warning about the last days of time upon this earth.
