Now, a group of advisors to President-elect Donald Trump on Native American issues wants to free those resources from what they call a suffocating federal bureaucracy that holds title to 56 million acres of tribal lands, two chairmen of the coalition told Reuters in exclusive interviews.
BATTLE LAKE, - One man is in custody after shooting another man outside a Battle Lake bar early Sunday. The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office reports that they, along with the Battle Lake Police Department, responded to the Rusty Nail Bar at 1:37 a.m. to a shooting. According to reports, the victim, identified as Phillip Kaste, 28, of Battle Lake was shot one time in the upper right chest with a pistol.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Gunshots were reported in the U.S. Capitol Visitors Center on Monday, U.S. Senate sources said. Workers in the Capitol were told to "shelter in place." A Capitol Police spokeswoman had no immediate comment but said the office would be issuing a statement soon.
Mike Frisch of Crosslake sent us photos of a very memorable day he and Mike Lippert of Monticello had out on the ice of the Whitefish Chain on February 5. Frisch said he was fishing with a sucker minnow in ten feet of water when he hooked into this 14 1/2 pound, 38-inch long northern. Mike says it put up a "pretty good fight" and added that it was "really tough to get it out of the hole". The pair also caught a 8 1/2 pound northern that day. Frisch says they are going to smoke the northerns for eating.
