But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV) Why is there so much anger in society today? Why are folks so intolerant of others and their personal views? What has gone wrong with society that political correctness takes precedence over all else that we believe? The Apostle Paul, writing to the Galatian churches, reminds those folks that Christians act or behave in a certain manner.
Each year we read from Scripture the message of John the Baptist, a preacher who proclaimed a message that was foreign to many. He didn't look nor act like a preacher. Rather, he wandered in the wilderness, dressed in the skin of a camel. He ate locusts and wild honey. Surely, a strange man living outside of the scope of what most would consider normal. Today, we might say he lived off the grid. Hearing John's message, hope arises within us. Anticipation begins to come upon us. Christmas is coming. We formulate images of a brightly decorated Christmas tree with presents under it.
Folks these days seem to react to truth in a number of ways. For some, truth is unwavering. For others, truth seems driven by whatever agenda influences the person at the moment.
Where does one find the truth regarding the Marriage Amendment to the Minnesota State Constitution? If one professes to be Christian, then one must look to the word of God to find answers. In Scripture, Genesis 2 lays the foundation regarding marriage beginning at verse 18: “Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” At verse 24 God says, “Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh.
