Icicles form on reeds overhanging Rice Lake Thursday, Nov. 8, at Lum Park in Brainerd. Snowfall, temperatures in the low 20s and blustery conditions are making it feel like winter. The normal high for this time of year is 43 degrees. The chance for snow showers will continue through the weekend and on Veterans Day, the National Weather Service reported. Temperatures are expected to warm to 32 degrees by midweek.

Alli and Justin Isaacson walk along the Paul Bunyan State Trail Saturday, Nov. 3, in Nisswa sporting blaze orange for the start of the firearm hunting season, just to be on the safe side. Hunters and trappers in the field must display blaze orange or blaze pink on their cap or outer clothing above the waist. Hikers and outdoor enthusiasts are also advised to wear blaze orange or pink to be as visible as possible during the hunting season.

People had a chance to see and touch a Kenyan sand boa named Rocky Saturday, Oct. 27, from the Pine Grove Zoo in Little Falls during the Howlerween event at the Northland Arboretum in Baxter.
