I've been in the Brainerd Lakes Area for the last 6 years, currently in Baxter with my wife and two little girls. We really enjoy all the activities and places to see in the Lakes area and particularly enjoy going to the beach and walking out at the Arboretum.
I grew up in western MN and went to school at the University of MN, Crookston.

Hey there, Tech Savvy fans! This week, as promised, we are going to take a look at one of the newer tablets out on the market, the Sony Xperia Z2, on loan from our friends at Verizon Wireless. For those of you that aren't familiar with the Xperia, it has the privilege of being manufactured by one of the largest names in media technology.
Hey there, Tech Savvy fans! This week I wanted to talk to you about a trend that has really become apparent over the last few years. Remember when you wanted to have a suite of office products - Microsoft Word, Excel or Powerpoint comes to mind - and so you'd go and buy the software, install it with a license key and then you'd be set? You could even choose which individual pieces you wanted and buy them separately. Then things started changing.
Hey there, Tech Savvy fans! This week I wanted to share a real life experience that yours truly just went through. As you may recall, I have an HTC Droid DNA for a phone and I love it. It's hands-down the best smartphone I've had and even compared to some of the newer ones from Samsung or Apple, I'd still prefer my DNA. The only issue I've had with it is that my SIM card acts up every once in a while - not the SIM specifically but earlier models of the DNA had an issue with the SIM card housing that caused the phone to not detect it. Unfortunately, I had one of those models.
Hey there, Tech Savvy fans! This week I wanted to share just my opinion that was sparked earlier this week when I saw another article promoting a high-end dress that was supposed to be both fashionable and functionally charge your devices as well. Now I am no fashion authority. It's a commonly known fact, evidenced by years of mismatched socks on my kids, navy blues and blacks are way too close in color, and there was even one embarrassing incident where I mistook my brown slacks for gray in the dim lighting.
Hey there, Tech Savvy fans! This week, as promised, I am pleased to bring to you a review of new Skinit brand skins for your smart devices. As I alluded to last week, I had recently received a demo of the 100 percent customizable vinyl skins available for a multitude of devices and Skinit continues to grow their product line. Let's take a brief step back here and talk about skins and how they compare to cases and other protective elements you can get for your phones and tablets. Skins themselves have been around for a number of years in different iterations.
Hey there, Tech Savvy fans! This week I wanted to share some thoughts I had on what has been an increasing trend over the past few years and what it means for us as general consumers. Wait, over the past few years? Seems like an eon in tech terms, and in most cases that would be true. But this phenomenon has been slowly creeping up on us, biding its time in the shadows like a jungle cat stalking its prey waiting for the right moment to pounce on the unsuspecting public. Of course, what I'm referring to is the slow but eventual integration of tech into nearly every aspect of our lives.
Hey there, Tech Savvy fans! Great news! This week I get to share a reader inquiry and it's a question I get fairly frequently. Do you remember the adage that if you give a man a fish he'll eat for a day, teach him to fish he'll eat for a lifetime? The same is very true in the world of tech as well.
Hey there, Tech Savvy fans! This week I thought it might be pertinent to discuss the mix n' match option of accessorizing your smart device and tech gizmos. For years tech companies spent millions building mini-ecosystems around their products - many still do. A prime example is Apple. As much as I like to pick on them, there is something really appealing to the way they package their products. Every single thing that Apple designs as accessories is designed to work with their products flawlessly.
Hey there, Tech Savvy fans! This week I wanted to talk about something that is becoming more and more prevalent in our tech society — the social media faux pas...
Hey there, Tech Savvy fans! This week I wanted to share a question that I received from one of our readers. With summer (finally) here, we’re out and about more and this was a well-timed question. Our reader asks: “My fiance and I are avid music listeners and are in the market for a portable Wi-Fi speaker. Do you recommend one over another? Our range of price is $150-$250. The speakers that come to mind are the Beats Pill, Jawbone Jambox, etc. Any suggestions would be great.”
