Hey there Tech Savvy fans! This week was a bit of recovery mode for me as I spent the majority of last week out of town at the annual Minnesota Newspaper Association convention, which is always a whirlwind. At the convention we attended seminars, training, and got to catch up with some of the best in the business. I've been fortunate to make many friends there and it's something I look forward to every year.
Hey there, Tech Savvy fans! This week we get to check out another option in the realm of power options—the Sunjack Solar Charger. You may recall that in the past we have reviewed other solar chargers—the Eton SolarBoost, for example. We've recently had a chance to review another great option in that same category, the Sunjack 14W 8,000 mAh solar charger and battery pack. There are two main criteria that I wanted to evaluate when testing and reviewing this product, the ability to charge via the solar panel, and the efficiency of the remote battery pack.
Hey there Tech Savvy fans! Recently I've been going through a lot of systems stuff, both personally and at work, and the whole process has really highlighted two different approaches and options for expanding your tech capabilities and the pros and cons of each. I'm referring to the choice between buying turnkey systems and products, or what I call "Frankenstein-ing" your setup with a multitude of parts. Your aptitude for tech, and your pocketbook, often determine the choice but both can be a blessing or a curse depending on the situation.
Hey there, Tech Savvy fans! This week we get a chance to take a look at another wearable piece of gear courtesy of our friends over at Verizon Wireless. It's a new year and there are some great wearables that are available already. This device was one I got a chance to check out at the Tech Luncheon last month and it was high on my priority list to try out—it's the Gizmo Pal 2 by LG.
Hey there, Tech Savvy fans! In the spirit of the new year I thought it would be worthwhile to chat about something that we have no issue with in other aspects of our lives, but when it comes to tech we tend to drag our feet. When the new year rolls around we often hear the term "turning over a new leaf" or we make resolutions to get healthy, lose some weight, or start a new hobby- something that changes how we live our lives. Unfortunately, in many areas of our everyday tech lives we often take the approach of "that's what I've always used" or it's just easier to let things ride.
Hey there, Tech Savvy fans! I hope you all had a safe and fun New Year's celebration, hopefully you all make some realistic resolutions. It's that time once again to make my not so bold predictions for 2016.
Hey there, Tech Savvy fans! I hope you all had a blessed and Merry Christmas this year and were able to spend some quality time with your family. Hopefully no one had to make the Christmas Day morning battery scramble to power up new goodies. It's that time of year that we take a look back at some of the things we wanted to keep an eye on throughout the year and also what stood out. This past year was certainly not a slouch of a year and there were a number of things that made it great.
Hey there, Tech Savvy fans! Last week I alluded that I have some really cool things coming down the pipeline that I've been testing and this week I get to share one of those with you, the Zus car charger by Nonda. I know, I know, car chargers don't really seem all that glamorous, I mean, let's be serious ... we just need something to charge our phones in our cars ... nothing fancy, right? Well, let me tell you about my past experiences with car chargers and see if you can relate. In the past, I've tried buying nice chargers, cheap chargers, ones with coiled cables, others that retract.
Hey there, Tech Savvy fans! This week I wanted to expand a little on a topic I discussed earlier and talk about differentiating between concept products, prototypes and what's really a legit product that you can count on. I shared my experience with a crowdfunded product called Coin. It was a credit card aggregator product that, while it met its goal, it suffered serious setbacks in meeting production deadlines and while I had originally been excited for the product, I ended up cancelling my order and sharing that experience with you.
Hey there, Tech Savvy fans! This week I get to share a fun experience I had this last week courtesy of our friends at Verizon Wireless and also give you a heads up for a super sweet deal you can get right now. First—have you ever felt awkward when you're at a meal and you keep getting notifications from your phone but you don't want to check it to be polite?
