Wind chill advisory for area
The National Weather Service in Duluth issued a wind chill advisory from midnight to 9 a.m. Tuesday for northern Aitkin, Cass and Crow Wing counties.
In Brainerd, the low temperatures late Monday and early Tuesday was expected to be 8 degrees below zero to 13 degrees below zero. When combined with north winds of 5 to 10 mph it could create wind chills of 20 to 30 degrees below zero.
On Tuesday, the weather service's forecast calls for partly sunny skies and high temperatures of 7 to 12 degrees, north winds of 10 to 15 mph and wind chills of 20 to 30 degrees below zero.
Tuesday night low temps of 15 to 20 degrees below zero are expected with wind chills of 30 to 40 degrees below zero. While lows Wednesday night aren't expected to be as severe - 2 degrees below to 7 degrees below - wind chills of 30 to 40 degrees below are still expected.
If the weather service's forecast holds, things should turn around Thursday, with partly sunny skies and high temps of 18 to 23 degrees possible.
