Charles B. Eide
Charles B. "Carl" Eide, age 82, resident of Brainerd, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at Good Samaritan Society-Woodland in Brainerd.
Mr. Eide was born May 12, 1926 in Loretta, Mich., to Lewis and Ida (Sears) Eide. He served in the U.S. Army 1944-1946, receiving decorations and citations for his service during the Philippine liberation. He was employed by the Burlington-Northern Railway for over 30 years. His memberships included the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Last Man's Club, American Legion, Eagles Club and Moose Lodge.
Survivors include two sons, Steve (Monica) Eide and Bruce (Shelley) Eide, all of Brainerd; six grandchildren, Jim Eide, Aaron Eide, Amanda Thiesse, Kathy Hamlin, Matthew Eide, and Caitlin (Trevor) Nichols; five great-grandchildren; one brother, George Eide of Brainerd; four sisters, Marie Andrew, Mabel Adolphson, and Doris Noakes, all of Brainerd, and Rose Cooper of Aitkin.
He was preceded in death by his wife Florence, his parents, brother Fred and sisters Dorothy Franzen and Betty Cutkay.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by American Legion Post No. 255 Color Guard. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
