Central Lakes College offers non-credit Spanish classes
Central Lakes College has added Spanish courses on a non-credit basis for the fall semester that runs Aug. 25-Dec. 19 in Brainerd. The deadline to register is Aug. 18.
A limited number of openings will be available for those who want to take beginning or intermediate Spanish at $320 per course. Payment is required at registration.
The Brainerd campus class sections available are as follows:
Beginning Spanish I Ð 9-9:50 a.m. and noon-12:50 p.m., Monday-Wednesday and Friday with instructor Jan Kurtz. This is the introductory course with no previous knowledge of the language required. First meeting is Aug. 25.
Intermediate Spanish I Ð 10-11:50 a.m., Tuesday and Thursday with instructor Kurtz. This course is a review of grammar fundamentals from the first year or years of study.
Beginning Spanish I and II or equivalent is a prerequisite for the intermediate course. First meeting is Aug. 26.
Also available on a non-credit basis for $240 is "Many Faces of Mexico," a course developed and taught by Kurtz to explore the cultural, historical and social realities that formed Mexico. It is offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10-10:50 a.m., with the first meeting Aug. 25.
