Kelsey Jewell, sophomore English major from Brainerd, was named to Franciscan University of Steubenville's Dean's List for the spring semester.
The Society of Professional Journalists announced the national winners of the 2008 Mark of Excellence Awards, recognizing collegiate work published or broadcasted during 2008. Recent Kansas University School of Journalism graduate Thor Nystrom, Baxter, won first place in two of the national SPJ Mark of Excellence Award categories. His article, "Both Sides of the Scalp," took first place in the sports category and his piece, "To Hell and Back," took first place in the feature category.
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire chapter of the national Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma honor societies for first-year students recently announced the induction of 224 members including Amy Fredman, Pillager.
Melissa Holland, daughter of Todd and Eileen Holland, Nisswa, was recently recognized as a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda, National Leadership and Honors Organization at the University of Wisconsin Madison.
Matthew Doucette, son of Patrick Jr. Doucette and Mary Doucette, Brainerd, recently participated in the White Coat Ceremony at North Dakota State University. He is a student in NDSU's Doctor of Pharmacy program. He took the oath of a pharmacist during the ceremony in NDSU Festival Concert Hall.
Brianna Gmeinder, Fort Ripley, is among five students serving on the Northwestern College Homecoming Committee.
