Gibson joins CTC as
central office technician
Consolidated Telecommunications Co. announced that Eric Gibson joined the company as a central office technician.
Gibson has 13 years of experience in the industry with employment at Lincoln Telephone Co. in Lincoln, Mont. Gibson is a graduate of Wadena Technical College.
BLACF announces board appointments
The Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation announced Dr. James D. Roelofs has joined its board.
Roelofs, a radiologist, now works as a consultant with institutions in the state, including the University of Minnesota. He received his medical doctorate from the College of Medicine at the University of Iowa.
The foundation also appointed Bill Brekken of Lakewood Bank as chairman of the board and re-elected Elaine Arndt of Lake Shore and Tom Anderson of Minnesota Thermal Science in Baxter to their second terms. Each board member serves a three-year term.
Nominations sought for LF employees of the month
LITTLE FALLS - The Little Falls Area Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Service Committee is requesting nominations for employees of the month.
Individual efforts - such as outstanding customer service or someone who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to ensure a satisfied customer - may be recognized by a nomination for the chamber's employee of the month award. Each month, one employee of a chamber member business is recognized with a plaque honoring their service, a professional head shot is taken for display in the employee's place of business for the month, they are taken to luncheon and receive gift certificates from member businesses.

Milaca company gains certification
MILACA - Woodland Improvements of Milaca was approved on Oct. 2 to use the True North Woods certification brand on its products produced from the sustainably managed and harvested forest of northern Minnesota.
Jason Frank owns the business.
The business' primary True North Woods-certified products will include: paneling, flooring and deckwood among others. The True North Woods certification brand was created to differentiate products originating in the forests of northern Minnesota in the market place.
Marco CEO gains national appointment
Jeff Gau, chief executive officer of Marco, was appointed to Sharp's National Dealer Advisory Council.
The council is composed of Sharp dealers throughout the country who act as a liaison between Sharp's product factory and their national sales and marketing team. This is Gau's second year as an advisory council member representing the Upper Midwest territory.
CLC alumnus help raise $178,000
The Central Lakes College Foundation received a donation of $19,242.40, which will be used to purchase equipment for the Heavy Equipment Operations and Maintenance program on the Staples campus.
The donation is a result of a golf tournament sponsored each year by Frattalone Excavating and Grading Inc., said Diane Scearcy, executive director of the CLC Foundation. Frank Frattalone, company founder, is a 1969 graduate of the Heavy Equipment program at Staples.
This was the 10th year for the fundraiser played at Oak Glen Country Club near Stillwater and during that time more than $178,000 has been raised to benefit the Heavy Equipment program, which is one of only three public college programs of its kind in the Upper Midwest.
Frattalone has been a leader in the program's advisory council that helps direct the CLC program. Each year more than 100 graduates from this local program enter the industry. A significant portion of the 200 working for Frattalone are CLC alumni.
Luce joins CTC board
John Luce joined the Consolidated Telecommunications Co. Board representing District 5 Brainerd, Baxter and Nisswa.
Luce has worked as an electrical designer and office manager for Gausman & Moor Engineers, director of buildings and grounds for the Brainerd public schools, and as a project manager for Widseth Smith Nolting. Luce is semi-retired and self-employed as a building design/construction management consultant.
Luce has been active with the Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport Commission as chair, the Rosenmeier Center for State & Local Government as vice chairman, and the Brainerd Area Amateur Radio Club as vice president and president. Luce has also been active with the Brainerd Rotary Club as director, vice president and president.
As District 5 director, Luce will be responsible for representing the cooperative membership and for developing strategies, policies and objectives for the cooperative.
