Marco reports strong fiscal year
Marco, a provider of business technology with an office in Brainerd, announced strong financial results for 2008 despite economic challenges.
The employee-owned company's operating income and revenue remained strong, increasing 9.6 percent and 9 percent, respectively.
The latest fiscal results continue Marco's positive growth over the past five years, the company reported. The company's stock value is up 17 percent over the past five years and its operating income has risen 25 percent in that period.
Jeff Gau, president of Marco, said tough economic times have led more businesses to outsource their information technology support services and to leverage more efficient ways of conducting meetings, networking offices and performing other common tasks.
Strong growth in digital signage and professional audio-video services drove revenues last year and balanced out a 10 percent decline in the company's office furniture division and stagnant sales in information technology hardware. New market expansions in Fargo and Grand Forks also contributed to the company's growth.
Marco added 25 employees in the last fiscal year. Sales and engineering positions represented much of the employment growth. Marco now employs nearly 300 people at its eight offices in Minnesota and North Dakota. Those employees earn an average annual salary of $59,600.
