We hope anglers have good luck this opening weekend of fishing. We hope boaters have fun on our lakes and rivers from now into the fall. For everyone, we hope they have a safe year on the water.
Not only is voting one of our most cherished, fundamental rights, it also is one of the best ways in which we can collectively make our voices heard on the direction we’d like to see the country go.
The National Weather Service in Duluth’s forecast for Monday calls for mostly sunny skies with a high temperature of 61 degrees during the day with temperatures expected to slowly fall into the low 50s by sunset.
With students returning to classes and other school activities en masse Tuesday, Sept. 6, it’s also time to remind motorists to be wary on area roadways. There will be a lot more kids, more cars and more buses traversing our neighborhoods.
We commend the work of the Water Tower Preservation Committee, which over these past few years has been a strong advocate for the water tower and creative in its fundraising for the preservation project, including securing grants from the Minnesota Historical Society and selling water tower memorabilia.
We commend the Brainerd City Council for approving a Brainerd Planning Commission recommendation of an interim use permit to allow the warming shelter on South Seventh Street to operate through June 30, 2025.
