MOORHEAD -- Emmet Anderson and eighth-grader Kyanna Burton both set school records for the Staples-Motley Cardinals as they ran to first-place finishes in the MSU-Moorhead Dragon Twilight meet Friday, Sept. 6.
For Anderson, a junior, it was his third win in three outings this year. He also finished first at the St. Olaf meet and the Cards’ Central Minnesota River Run home meet.
His time of 15:09.4 broke the 5,000 meter record previously held by Hunter Klimek. Klimek, a senior, placed third Friday and the S-M boys finished fourth as a team.
Burton completed the course in 19:01.7 for her second win of the season. Aften Robinson crossed the line fifth and the Cardinal girls claimed first place.
