Area Cross-Country: Patriots become section champions behind Chaney’s title

CLOQUET — Calia Chaney of Pequot Lakes took first place honors with a time of 18:48.6 in the Section 7-1A championship Monday, Oct. 12.

The Patriots as a team were section champions for the second consecutive year with a score of 101.

Patriots Rian Zutter finished fourth in 20:01.8 and Carly Chaney sixth in 20:28.7.

Crosby-Ironton took the 11th spot out of 16 teams that qualified. Emily Miller was 23rd in 21:46.5, Anna Westin took 40th place in 22:26.2 and Gabby Rosecrans finished 69th in 23:36.6.

Mara Adam was the top finisher for the Pine River-Backus Tigers in 23:11.6.
