Area Cross-Country: Pequot Lakes sweeps DL Invite

DETROIT LAKES — Calia Chaney and Jesse Clausen each picked up individual victories and led the Pequot Lakes Patriots to a sweep Thursday, Sept. 3, at the Detroit Lakes Invite.

Clausen won with a time of 18:02.5. He was followed by Ethan Johnson in second, Eli Hall in fourth, Dawson Ackerman in fifth and Charlie Schiessl in sixth.

Chaney posted a first-place time of 19:51.3. Rian Zutter placed third, Elisa Flaws fourth, Lilix Gustafson fifth and Emma Flaws sixth.

S-M sweeps Wadena meet

WADENA — Staples-Motley’s Emmet Anderson and Kyanna Burton both finished as individual winners while the Cardinal boys and Girls both placed first over Perham and Wadena-Deer Creek at the WDC Johanna Olson Invite Thursday, Sept. 3.

Anderson ran a 16:15.4 to take the win for the boys and was followed by Issiah Tabatt who placed fourth for the Cardinals.

Burton clocked in at 20:14.4 to win the top spot for the girls. Teammate Aften Robinson placed third and Ashley Robben fifth.

Wadena-Deer Creek boys and girls each finished third with Kira Sweeney placing second overall for the girls and Bjorn Brunsberg in 15th.

Miller gets win in Rangers Triangular

DEERWOOD — Crosby-Ironton’s Emily Miller was the individual winner as the Ranger Girls were second overall with a score of 29 in the Ranger Triangular Thursday, Sept. 3, at Ruttger’s Bay Lake Lodge.

Miller ran a 22:28 for the win while Gabby Rosecrans placed fourth for CI.

The Ranger boys best time came from Joseph Ringhand who placed sixth with a 20:13.4 time.

The Pillager girls were first overall with Emma Reeder running 24:03.3 for a second place individual finish. Lindy Cordes followed closely with a 24:04.6 time to place third.

The Pillager boys were incomplete as a team with Jacob Hooge coming in at ninth.

Little Falls place 3rd in home meet

LITTLE FALLS — Little Falls’ Courtney Loeffler finished fifth in the Little Falls Invite as the Flyer boys and girls each placed third out of three teams Thursday, Sept. 3, at the Little Falls Golf Course.

Gracie Leclair was seventh and Abby Borash 10th for the Flyer girls.

The Flyer boys saw their best from Wyatt Baum who placed seventh, Ben Knopik eighth and Connor Grant followed in ninth place.
