Blue Horseshoe Acquisitions purchases Stewart’s Forest Products

Stewart's Forest Product's main manufacturing facility is in Fort Ripley, employing 45.

Sunbelt Business Advisors President Chris Jones Feb. 17 announced the sale of St. Paul-based Stewart’s Forest Products to Blue Horseshoe Acquisitions.

Sunbelt Business Advisors veteran Dan Mulvaney represented the seller in the transaction.

Stewart’s Forest Products began as a family-owned business in 1971 to build wooden ammunition boxes for the U.S. Government. As the need for small caliber munitions decreased in the late 1970s, Stewart’s Forest Products focused its efforts on manufacturing commercial wooden packaging. In the late 1990s, the company purchased a wood component processing facility to round out the product line and increase processing capabilities.

Today, all processing and assembly is conducted at the company’s main manufacturing facility with 43 employees in Fort Ripley. The company also has two employees at a sales office in St. Paul.

“We were pleased to be able to match a buyer and seller to make sure that Stewart’s Forest Products customers and the company’s 45 employees would experience a smooth transition,” said Mulvaney, who specializes in manufacturing company transactions at Sunbelt, in a news release.

“The owner, George Stewart, had been in the business since he was a young man and wanted to have the flexibility to pursue other endeavors — it was rewarding to be able to make his dream come true,” said Mulvaney.
