Deerwood Bank names Ted Abear as Vice President of Business Banking

BAXTER - Deerwood Bank has named Ted Abear as Vice President of Business Banking. Previously, Abear had been Assistant Vice President of Business Banking

Abear has been with Deerwood Bank for more than seven years, in positions ranging from Credit Analyst and Business Services Representative, and more recently as a Business Banking Officer. As Vice President of Business Banking, Abear will continue to assist business clients with financing needs and business banking services, as well as analyzing financial statements and underwriting loans. He primarily works at the Baxter location, but occasionally assists customers in Deerwood.

"I was born and raised in the Crosby area and I began working as a summer teller with Deerwood Bank during my senior year of college," said Abear. "I have always enjoyed working at Deerwood and I began there full time the day after I graduated from college!"

Abear earned his Bachelor of Science degree at St. Cloud State University--majoring in Finance and minoring in Business Management--graduating after three-and-one-half years. He completed the American Bankers Association's Commercial Lending School in Dallas, Texas in 2016. He also participated in the Leadership Experience at the Brainerd Lakes Chamber Blue Ox Business Academy in 2017, and he holds a Minnesota insurance producer license for accident and health, credit, and life insurance.

He is an active member of the Deerwood Volunteer Fire Department and is also the President of the Deerwood Fire Department. Abear serves on the Board of Directors for the Cuyuna Lakes Chamber of Commerce and is also its Treasurer.

Abear is married to Ceara and they have two children. He enjoys hunting, fishing, mountain biking, camping, home-remodeling projects, and spending time with family.

Deerwood Bank has 13 offices throughout central and northern Minnesota--including Brainerd, Baxter, Deerwood and Garrison--and the Twin Cities.
