The Aldi grocery store is hosting hiring events Wednesday with jobs in the greater Twin Cities area.
Expectations are to hire about 10 people for the store now under construction in Baxter next to Target. For its stores in the Twin Cities, Aldi is offering starting pay for store associates at $13 an hour. Aldi reports shift managers make $17.50 to $18 per hour and the base rate for store associates is $13 to $14 per hour. Aldi reports it offers generous pay and benefits well above the industry standard.
Job requirements include being 18 years old or older, a high school diploma or GED, retail experience is preferred, drug screening and background check and an ability to lift 45 pounds. Employees averaging more than 25 hours a week are eligible for full health insurance benefits and dental coverage. All employees are invited to participate in a 401(k).
A bit farther away but for area residents interested in work in the hospitality industry in the metro area, the JW Marriott Minneapolis Mall of America in Bloomington is nearing structural completion, is hosting job fairs.
The 342-room hotel is accepting job applications for hospitality positions including guest service agents, housekeeping attendants, bellmen, stewards and loss prevention specialists. The restaurant reports it "anticipates serving thousands of the mall's 42 million annual guests. ... connected by Minneapolis Light Rail, the hotel is easily accessible from downtown Minneapolis, MSP Airport and the nearby residential areas. The 15-story hotel reports it has direct access to the Mall of America and will include a full-service restaurant and bar, grand lobby with a bar, fitness center, pool, and extensive meeting space featuring a grand ballroom. It will also offer an executive lounge and underground parking. For lakes area travelers to the Cities, the hotel is taking reservations for Jan. 1, 2016, and later.
Kohl's expects to hire more than 69,000 associates this holiday season.
Additional associates in stores, distribution centers and credit operations will ensure an easy shopping experience and great service for Kohl's customers during busy holiday shopping season. Positions will be filled by mid-November.
"Kohl's anticipates hiring an average of 50 associates per store to provide customers with excellent service throughout the holiday season at its 1,166 stores in 49 states," the company reported. "In addition, the company anticipates hiring approximately 9,500 seasonal positions at distribution and e-commerce fulfillment centers across the country and approximately 660 seasonal credit operations positions."
