Construction efforts are going into adding a Mattress Firm store.
Baratto Brothers is behind the construction effort on Dellwood Drive, just off Highway 371 and next to the Baxter Liquor Mart.
Mattress Firm is a speciality retailer of mattresses and operates and franchises about 3,500 stores in the nation, as of a March listing. The Houston-based company was founded in 1986.
Expect a different look at the pharmacy at Target as it transitions into a CVS pharmacy as of Friday, June 17. Target sold its pharmacy business to CVS Health Corp. The venerable Service Drug on Washington Street in Brainerd recently transferred its pharmacy customers to nearby Walgreens.
The Brainerd lakes area will be highlighted on WCCO-TV as part of the "Going to the Lake!" series airing on Thursday and Friday newscasts this summer. Mike Augustyniak, Natalie Nyhus and Chad Hartman are scheduled in the Brainerd area June 30-July 1. The series plans to visit nine lakes area summer spots in Minnesota and western Wisconsin. As part of the series, Northland Tracker Boating Center is giving away a pontoon with the winner drawn during the state fair. Go to wcco.com/laketrip to suggest local spots for the visit.

And in the category of can't win without playing, the Minnesota State Lottery reported a Crow Wing County resident won $175,000 playing the 10X The Cash game.
Michael Cluever of Brainerd claimed the prize Wednesday. The Speedstop Pequot Lakes, on Highway 371 sold the winning ticket.
