Recent action at the long-closed Burger King restaurant along Highway 210 in west Brainerd has readers wondering if it means the fast food franchise will return.

That remains unclear. But last week crews were at work in the facility dismantling and removing the playground equipment and filling dumpsters parked next to the entrance. The restaurant is showing signs of its long inactivity with weeds growing up in the parking lot.

Brainerd Burger King reign ended its reign in the spring of 2018 after its owners filed bankruptcy documents. It was one of nine shuttered Burger Kings in the state that closed abruptly. The ownership was listed as Illinois-based P3 Foods LLC in bankruptcy documents and as Red King Foods LLC with Burger King's corporate office. P3 Foods went into voluntary Chapter 11 filing with a bankruptcy court in Chicago.
