Plans filed with the city of Baxter are shedding more light on what could be inside the new building going up in front of Gander Outdoors.

Construction crews are currently working on the site.

Permits filed with the city for the building, identified on the permit as Baxter Retail North Building, include the names of two restaurants the lakes area residents have been talking about for some time -- Chipotle and Five Guys.

The names on the plans don’t mean those leases are finalized in that building, although Chipotle has already confirmed it planned to join the community and have its restaurant along Edgewood Drive, the westside frontage road to Highway 371. The plans for Chipotle indicate inside seating for 41 in the 2,563-square-foot suite with outside seating for 14. The permit indicates the two restaurants would be on either side of the building with room for two retail suites in between them.

The restaurant name linked to the other side of the building is Five Guys.

Five Guys corporate media did not respond to an inquiry in June as to whether they have a restaurant coming here, although several people have reported talking to Five Guys employees in St. Cloud who told them a restaurant expansion was coming here and others reported speaking to representatives reportedly from Five Guys who they described as scouts looking at the lakes area for site locations.

The permit notes Five Guys, known for its handcrafted burgers and fries, could have inside seating for 45 and outdoor seating for 12 in a 2,418-square-foot restaurant.

In Ironton, a sign at the former Wells Fargo bank branch along Highway 210 notes a Mac Daddy’s Donut Garage will open there in the fall.

Louie’s Bucket of Bones in Ironton reported on Facebook that the restaurant will close as of Sunday, July 7, and customers were thanked for supporting the eatery.
