Earth-moving equipment next to Target in Baxter put action into the earlier announcement of an ALDI grocery store addition to the lakes area.
The plan for the grocery store chain in Baxter call for a 17,825-square-foot store on nearly 2 acres near Target with access off Dellwood Drive. The front of the store is proposed on the building's west side. The remaining land between Mills Ford and Target, about 10 acres after the right-of-way considerations, would be set up as an outlot. And ALDI's expects to hire 14 to 20 workers.
SuperOne Foods in Baxter has opened its liquor store.
AutoZone is taking shape on West Washington Street. Workers were busy Friday on the building, which is putting a new business into what was a long-time vacancy in the former Freedom station and West SIde Cafe building.
Packed highways and side street with vehicles backed up at nearly every turn in the lakes area seemed to be bringing more people to the lakes area for the Fourth of July weekend than in recent memory. There were busy parking lots at area restaurants, retail stores and grocery stores - speaking to the dollar benefit for all those vehicles in the community.
