Theresa Bourke recently joined the Brainerd Dispatch as a staff writer.
Bourke will cover Brainerd City Council and Brainerd School Board, education and features among other stories. She grew up in Marathon, Wis., a small town in the central region of the state. She graduated from Marathon High School in 2012 and went on to study journalism and Spanish at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, where she worked for the school's student-run news organization, TommieMedia.com. She graduated in May 2016 with a double major.
Before coming to the Dispatch, Bourke spent two years as a staff writer for the PineandLakes Echo Journal, a weekly newspaper out of Pequot Lakes.
