Chamber to host annual meeting Feb. 28

LITTLE FALLS-The Little Falls Area Chamber of Commerce invites all chamber and community members to its annual meeting, Thursday, Feb. 28, at the Falls Ballroom.

The chamber will bestow the 2018 Small and Large Businesses of the Year awards, as well as the Chamber Volunteer of the Year awards. The featured entertainment for this event is Harper's Chord. Harper's Chord is a four-member musical group led by vocalist Jill Moore.

The chamber will be congratulating the 2018 Chair of the Chamber Board John Thielen, Thielen Meats, on a successful year and welcoming Tim Matros, Five Pines Senior Solutions, as the 2019 chair of the chamber Board. Outgoing board members to be honored during this event is Cindy Brey, SweetWater Resort.

"The annual meeting provides the opportunity to celebrate the successes of the chamber over

the past year," said Debora K. Boelz, president/CEO of the chamber, in a news release, "and we have a great deal to celebrate."

Cost is $30 per person with advance reservation required. Confirm reservations by

Cuyuna Lakes Chamber Business After Hours

DEERWOOD-The Bay Lake Area Lions and the Traveling Art Pub will host Cuyuna Lakes Chamber of Commerce's Business After Hours at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at the Deerwood Auditorium.

Everyone is invited to learn more about the Bay Lake Area Lions at the social planned for 5-7 p.m. There will be networking to build relationships, hors d'oeuvres and refreshments. Chamber members will also be able to introduce themselves and their business to the group. A $3 entry fee will be collected at the door.

Those attending will also have a chance to explore their creative side with the Traveling Art Pub from 6-8 p.m. For $25, participants will receive a two-hour guided instruction to create a three feathers acrylic painting. A total of $5 from each ticket will benefit the 5M Lions Childhood Cancer Program. Tickets must be purchased in advance at www.mkt.com/travelingartpub . If minimum registration is not met, the event is subject to cancellation and refunds or transfers will be made.

Carey joins Brainerd Community Action

Brainerd Community Action announced Cassie Carey as its new executive director.

Community Action reported "Carey is a highly motivated strategic planner and brings a wealth of knowledge in regard to community leadership and engagement, connecting unique partnerships to work toward a shared vision, as well as grant writing."

Also, Danielle Addison was announced as a new board member, representing Mid-Minnesota Federal Credit Union. Addison has been active in leading volunteer driven efforts in support of BCA over the past two years. She joins the current active board members consisting of: Mike Bestul, Brainerd Police Department; Becky Borash, Crow Wing Power; Kim Rollins, United

Way; Sarah Smith, Confidence Learning Center; and Kevin Stunek, city of Brainerd.
